Project description
Lamme Textile Management, a private equity-backed company with the heart of a family business and over a century of experience in textile logistics. In aviation, Lamme ensures the continuity of onboard and service textiles through industrial laundry and end-to-end supply chain services. From collection to clean delivery, their operations run across critical touchpoints at major European airports including Schiphol, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Brussels. Lamme’s reputation is built on the integration of heritage, operational excellence, and a drive to innovate in a heavily regulated environment.
Challenges
The handling and delivery of flight supplies are subject to stringent aviation security regulations. For Lamme, ensuring compliance without compromising on efficiency or operational consistency was a growing concern. As regulatory standards evolved, so did the need for a security concept that could be both flexible and future-proof. Lamme recognized the opportunity to rethink its logistics flows and solidify its role as a frontrunner in secure and reliable service provision to the aviation sector.
The key challenge was to (re)design a process that met regulatory screening requirements while maintaining Lamme’s high service level, minimizing delays, and preparing for potential market expansion.
Our solution
Point FWD supported Lamme by conducting a structured and phased concept study focused on regulation-compliant, yet operationally lean solutions:
Regulatory & process deep-dive
A comprehensive review of applicable legislation (EU 2015/1998 and associated directives), coupled with an in-depth assessment of Lamme’s current operational processes, revealed pain points and bottlenecks. This allowed for a pinpointed gap analysis and risk-based review of the current setup.
Stakeholder-driven scenario development
Through interviews and working sessions with operational, compliance, and logistics stakeholders, Point FWD designed multiple future-state process scenarios. Each was tailored to varying risk levels, operational conditions, and infrastructural limitations.
Market technology research
To translate conceptual ambitions into feasible designs, Point FWD conducted a market study focused on security screening systems applicable to flight supply screening—ranging from X-ray technology to automated solutions. The market scan included manufacturer-specific benchmarks, standards compliance, and integration feasibility.
Concept validation and roadmap
Select scenarios were subject to preliminary functional design development and verification tests to ensure operational viability. This included capacity estimation, concept-of-operations (CONOPS) framing, and a high-level business case to evaluate investment needs versus security and efficiency gains.
