Free aviation security masterclass:
Self-service in the security checkpoint with Guided Divest
Self-service technologies are creating new opportunities for aviation security. But how can these technologies be successfully introduced into an operational airport environment?
In this edition of the Point FWD Masterclass Series. we will take you through the development Guided Divest, from the initial concept design to testing and implementation in a real airport environment. We will share the challenges we encountered, the lessons learned and the current “operation-ready” status of the solution.

From innovation to operational implementation
Self-service technologies are becoming increasingly common across industries, changing how people interact with systems and services. These developments are also creating new opportunities for aviation, where automation and intelligent guidance are gradually becoming part of the passenger journey. In aviation security, these technologies could support more intuitive passenger interactions, reduce the need for repetitive manual guidance and help security operators focus their attention where it is most needed.
Point FWD markets Guided Divest, a passenger specific interaction system in the divestment process at security screening. It provides passengers with clear, real-time instructions based on what is worn and taken into the checkpoint, and needs to be divested (i.e. shoes, jackets, belts, watches, scarves etc). Goal: Less uncertainty for passengers. Less repetitive guidance for operators. A steadier security throughput.
from the initial idea to a workable solution in a real airport environment. We will share the decisions, challenges and lessons learned throughout development, testing and implementation, including experiences from Frankfurt Airport.
What you will learn
We will discuss various perspectives on the introduction of Guided Divest into aviation security operations, including:
Added value to the security operation: How Guided Divest adds value to the passenger journey in the security operation.
From development to implementation: The challenges of translating the concept into an airport-ready solution.
People, process and technology: How passenger behavior, operator interaction, system integration and existing procedures influenced product development.
Impact on performance and other KPMs. How operational data, user feedback and real-world testing show the impact on performance and efficieny levels.
Current status of technology and deployment. What considerations need to taken for succesful operation in an airport context and specific lane design.
For whom is this masterclass?
This masterclass is designed for airport professionals involved in terminal operations, security, innovation, passenger experience, technology development and implementation.
Why join
This masterclass gives an in-depth view of Guided Divest, an operations-ready product for Self-Service security screening. The experts of Point FWD take a deep dive in various concrete considerations, by which airport staff obtain the essential information needed to prepare for self-service implementation in the security checkpoint.
