Meet the expert: Gunther van Adrichem
Gunther is an industry-leading specialist in aviation security and checkpoint innovation. With a long-standing background as an AVSEC expert, he has been at the forefront of developing and implementing next-generation screening concepts, from early security scanner certification programs to large-scale checkpoint redesigns.
Understanding the challenge of security screening transitions
Across Europe, airports are preparing for the implementation of the EU Security Baseline. For many, this marks the start of a complex transition that goes far beyond equipment replacement. How do you translate regulation into operational concepts? Which technologies align with your airport’s capacity and layout? And how do you manage procurement and implementation efficiently, without losing grip on timelines or stakeholder alignment?
This masterclass brings these questions to the surface, and answers them through real cases, data-driven insights, and open discussion.
What you will learn
Led by Gunther van Adrichem and supported by the expert group at Point FWD this interactive session will take you through the full journey of a security transition.
Key themes include:
Transition planning and implementation of the new EU Security Baseline.
Technology selection and integration: EDS CB C-1,2 &3, ATRS, Security Scanner, Shoe Screening, APIDS and beyond.
Procurement strategies: defining requirements, evaluating vendor solutions, and aligning trial outcomes with rollout plans.
Capacity studies and modelling: understanding operational performance and identifying bottlenecks early.
Stakeholder alignment: ensuring all parties, from airport management to regulators, move in one direction.
You’ll leave with a clearer overview of what it takes to plan and execute your own transition program with confidence. And of course, there’s room for your questions.
For who is this masterclass?
This masterclass is designed for airport security managers, program managers, airport planners, and procurement or operations leads who are preparing for, or are currently in, the transition toward the EU Security Baseline. Whether you are defining your roadmap, building tender requirements, or managing trials, this session will provide clarity, structure, and practical tools to guide your next steps.
Why join
Implementing the EU Security Baseline is not just about new equipment or compliance. It’s about connecting regulation, design, people and process into one coherent, future-proof operation.
This masterclass helps you see the full picture. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what a successful transition requires, from planning and technology selection to procurement, trials and implementation. Expect real-world insights, shared experiences from other airports, and a deeper sense of structure and confidence to define your own roadmap.
Point FWD has supported airports across Europe in navigating these complex changes. In this session, we bring that experience to the room to help you move from uncertainty to direction, and from complexity to clarity.
